Hospital routine

Visiting hours are from 11:00 am to 8:00pm.

Each patient in the hospital receives ONE visiting card. The family uses that card to submit it at the hospital entrance as a way to control that each patient gets only one visitor at a time. We take turns using the card and each day my Mom has had a visitor all day during the allowed visiting times.

Each patient gets breakfast, lunch, coffee/tea and dinner. If the patients need help having their food, a visitor can assist them.

Last week our friend Titi (who is actually an angel from heaven) helped my Mom every day at lunch time. Then my Dad and 2 brothers took turns visiting my Mom for the rest of the day.

This week, my Mom can now have food on her own, but we'll still be with her at all times during visiting hours. Since things are looking better, everyone goes back to work and my Dad and I will take turns going to the hospital during most of the day. My brothers will go see her when they come back from work.

Apparently, children are allowed inside the hospital during visiting hours. This seems just incredible to all of us in our family! When Ishan asked me if my Mom had seen Fabian, I realized nobody had even thought about the possibility to take him to the hospital. However, we're going to wait for a few more days. We think that when my Mom can leave her bed and walk a little, she can go to a small open area with a garden where there are a few benches. In that case, we could take Fabi to go see her for a few minutes. Of course that we all want Mom home as soon as possible; I would especially like her to be home before I return to Germany.

Las horas de visita para los pacientes hospitalizados son de 11:00am a 8:00pm.

Cada paciente en el hospital recibe UNA tarjeta de visita. La familia usa esa tarjeta para presentarla a la entrada del hospital y eso sirve de control para que cada paciente reciba sólo una visita a la vez. En mi familia nos hemos turnado el uso de la tarjeta para que todos los días mi Mamá esté con alguien durante todo el tiempo permitido de las visitas.

Cada paciente recibe desayuno, almuerzo, café/té y cena. Si los pacientes necesitan ayuda para comer, el visitante les puede ayudar.

La semana pasada, nuestra amiga Titi (quien es más bien, un ángel caído del cielo) le ayudó a mi Mamá todos los días con el almuerzo. Luego mi Papá y mis dos hermanos se turnaron para visitar a mi Mamá el resto del día.

Esta semana ya mi Mamá puede comer sola, pero siempre la estaremos visitando durante todo el tiempo permitido. Como las cosas ya van mucho mejor, todos regresan a sus trabajos y mi Papá y yo nos turnaremos para ir al hospital durante el día. Mis hermanos irán a visitar a mi Mamá después de que salgan del trabajo.

Aparentemente, le tienen permitida la entrada a los niños para que vayan a ver pacientes al hospital. ¡En nuestra familia esto nos parece increíble! Cuando Ishan me preguntó si mi Mamá había visto a Fabián, me di cuenta que a nadie ni siquiera se le había ocurrido la posibilidad de llevarlo al hospital. Sin embargo, vamos a esperar unos cuantos días más. Pensamos que cuando mi Mamá se pueda levantar de su cama y caminar un poco, ella pueda ir a un área al aire libre donde hay un pequeño jardín con algunas bancas para sentarse. En ese caso, pueda ser que lleve a Fabián a verla un ratito. Por supuesto que a todos nos gustaría que mi Mamá regrese a la casa lo más pronto posible, especialmente me gustaría que regresara a la casa antes de nuestro regreso a Alemania.
